Mrs. Nellie Hester Chavis, age 88, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at her residence in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mrs. Chavis was born in Orange County, North Carolina, on January 1, 1937, to the late Walter Hester and Lucy Tapp Hester.
For many years she was employed as a Teacher's Aide in the Guilford County School System.
She was a longtime member at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro where she was a Missionary and Choir Member and served on the Usher Board.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bedford Chavis and son Minister Steven Douglas Chavis.
Mrs. Nellie Hester Chavis leaves to cherish her memory her sons: Darryl, Jerry and Bernard Chavis; sister Emma Sue Pettiford; four grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Dianne Chavis; and a host of additional relatives and friends.
