On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Mrs. Cora Winstead Jones, age 93, entered into eternal rest at her home – surrounded by her children.
She was a native of Person County, North Carolina, born to the late Junious Winstead and the late Lula Wagstaff Winstead. She was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother. She was a member of Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Chicken” Jones; sons: Donald Jones and Douglas Jones; brothers: Harry Winstead, Joe Louis Winstead and Charlie Winstead; and sisters: Ola Jones and Nora Williams.
Mrs. Cora Winstead Jones leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Warren D. Jones, Bryce Jones and Michael Jones; two daughters: Brenda Jones and Wanda Faye Jones; niece/daughter Sheila Jones; one grandchild; sister Cornelia Winstead; sisters-in-law: Mary Winstead and Alene Graves; brother-in-law Isaac J. Jones; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
