Reverend Eugene Powell, age 78, left this Earth to be with the Lord on Thursday July 25, 2024 in Texas.
He was born on April 12, 1946 in Lumberton, North Carolina to Mamie Darnell Powell and Eugene Faison.
Reverend Eugene Powell graduated from Harlan High School in June 1965. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.
He furthered his education, obtaining his Bachelors Degree in 1978 and Masters Degree in 1998 in Criminal Justice. He gave 25 years of service as a Chicago Police Officer - retiring in 2004. He was ordained as a minister in 2015.
Rev Eugene Powell was loved by many and the sweetest most kindest person you could ever meet. He loved talking on the phone about the bible to his best friends Pastor Jamie Hooker and brother in law Earl Harrington. He loved flying kites, playing with his camera’s and most of all spending time with his grandson Jayden.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Eugene served as a Chicago Police Officer for 25 years. He was ordained as a minister in 2015.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers David Gerald Darnell and Ernest Darnell.
Reverend Eugene Powell is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Veronica; Grandson Jayden; brothers: Earl (Nancy); Gene Edward Faison (Mary); sister Phyllis Faison Newman (Frank); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
