Mr. John Dee Holeman, age 92, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, North Carolina. He was born in Orange County, North Carolina on April 4, 1929.
Mr. John Dee Holeman was a world renowned and legendary Blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and buckdancer. Much of his music can be heard on radio stations throughout the world and on Youtube.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Holeman and Annie Obie Holeman; two daughters Shelia Minor and Sylvia Robinson; one son John Holeman, Jr.; three sisters Inez Daye, Willie Mae Reams and Betty Jane James; and four brothers Vance Holeman, Sr., Jessie Dixon, Herman Dixon and Willie Tucker.
Mr. Holeman is survived by his wife Evelyn Holeman of Roxboro, North Carolina; three daughters Gracie H. Markham and Gunda Holeman, both of Durham, North Carolina; and Mary Springs (husband Anthony) of Burlington, North Carolina; one son Robert Holeman (wife Roneata) of Durham, North Carolina; one sister Viola Mae Johnston of Timberlake, North Carolina; and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
