Mr. Melvin Dean Lester, age 75, entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. He was a native of Person County and was born on April 6, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred G. Lester and Vera Woods Lester; two sisters Mary Blossom Lester and his twin, Evelyn L. Hamlett; six brothers Otha, Maxie, Robert, Fred Junior, Tommie Dwight and Larry Wayne.
Mr. Lester is survived by his wife Peggy Bass Lester of the home; three daughters Kim D. Lester and Kay Lester, both of Roxboro, North Carolina and Earlene Lester of Henderson, North Carolina; three sons Tim Woods, Donovan Lester and Malik Bolick, all of Roxboro, North Carolina; four sisters Mabel Lester and Corine Lester, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Ann Snipes and Nannie Louise Smith both of Roxboro, North Carolina; one brother Frank Lester of Roxboro, North Carolina; two aunts Annie Bell Lester and Esther Woods, both of Roxboro, North Carolina; six sisters-in-law Nannie Lester, Mary Lester, Maxine Bass and Dorothy Paylor, all of Roxboro, North Carolina; Amelia Lester of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Cheryl Bass of Charlotte, North Carolina; four brothers-in-law Lamberth Hamlett of Semora, North Carolina; Tony Bass (wife Sheri) of Roxboro, North Carolina; Michael Bass of Miami, Florida; and Robert Bass of Durham, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a special young man the family supported with love and guidance Thaddeus Jamison of Pontiac, Michigan; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
