Mrs. Mattie Louise Williams Banks, age 82, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, North Carolina. She was born on April 1, 1942 to the union of the late Fred Louis “Mike” Williams and the late Nannie Love Harris Williams. Mrs. Banks was a native of Person County, North Carolina, a member of Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Roxboro and the first President of the Gospel Choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Jacob Banks; brother Terry Williams; sisters-in-law Catherine Pettiford Williams and Costella Terry; and brothers-in-law Maxie Lester, Sr. and Austin Banks.
Mrs. Mattie Louise Williams Banks will forever be cherished by her sister Nannie Elizabeth Lester; brothers: Jerry Harris Williams, Barry Williams (wife Cynthia) and Frank Newman, Sr. (wife Phyllis); sisters-in-law Gladys “Mickey” Banks, Elaine Banks, Carolyn Hughes and Frances Pulliam (husband Robert); brothers-in-law Floyd Banks, Joseph Banks and Winston Villines; and numerous nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.
