Mr. Claude Blackwell, affectionately known as “Speedy”, age 88, departed his Earthly life and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at his residence in Roxboro, North Carolina. He was a native of Person County – born on December 15, 1935 - to the union of the late Benjamin Blackwell, Sr. and the late Bell Cameron Blackwell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Angela J. Blackwell; sisters: Geneva B. Pettiford, Mildred Blackwell and Isabella Bradsher; and brothers: Ben Jr. and Alexander Blackwell.
Mr. Claude “Speedy” Blackwell leaves to cherish his memory his wife Gloria Paylor Blackwell of Roxboro, North Carolina; daughters Sharon Blackwell Alston (Eugene) of Rougemont, North Carolina and Anita Blackwell of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sisters: Thelma B. Ruffin and Queen B. Alexander, both of Radford, Virginia, and Helen B. McLean (Henry) of Durham, North Carolina; two grandsons: Ryan L.B. Robinson of Washington, DC and Nicholas P. Robinson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a host of additional loving relatives and friends.
